Constanta Beaches Phase 3 & 4, Romania

Phase II of the Reduction of Coastal Erosion projects focuses on the protection and rehabilitation of the Romanian Black Sea coast in the Costinești, Mangalia-Saturn and 2 Mai area. The works include the installation of Xbloc units on breakwaters and groynes to provide durable armour and reduce wave energy. Xblocks of 3 m³ and 4.5 m³ were used, with a total production of about 46,000 m³. The project started in 2024 and is expected to finish in 2026. Combined with complementary measures such as beach nourishment and ecological restoration, this phase delivers a robust and sustainable coastal defense system.
