The existing breakwater in Poti constructed in 1873, required renovation

DMC extended the Xbloc shore protection on both ends which was constructed in 2014. The project in 2022/2023 comprised of 210m of 0.75m3 Xblocs on the Northern side of the main island. Boyer produced and placed the units.

For a port terminal in Jeddah Islamic Port North West R4 Berth area in Saudi Arabia, Improvement of an existing revetment was carried out by Saudi Archirodon LTD using Xbloc Armour units. The revetment has a length of 80 m and around 1925 Xbloc units of 0.75 m3 were placed.

At the Andhra Pradesh coastline in India the greenfield Ramayapatnam Port is planned. This port is being built by a joint venture of Navayuga Engineering Company Limited and Auro Infra Private Limited. The 2 required breakwaters have a total length of 5 km and will be protected by around 25,000 XblocPlus and Xbloc units. The blocks range in sizes of 6 m3 XblocPlus and Xbloc units on the trunk sections and 7 m3 and 8 m3 Xblocs on the roundheads.

On La Reunion XblocPlus is used for the coastal protection of the Roland-Garros airport in Saint-Denis.

At the Black Sea coastline of Eforie in Romania, Van Oord is building new groynes and beaches. The project is part of a program to reinforce the coastline of Constanta in a nature-friendly way and boost the tourism sector. The groynes will be protected by around 3,000 Xblocs with a volume of 3 m³.

To reinforce the breakwater a new cover of Xblocs is placed at the harbour of La Turballe, France.

For a new shipping chanel in the Gulf of Gdansk, the breakwaters are build with XblocPlus.

In Rize, Turkey, a new airport is completed and opened in May 2022.

DMC have signed a license agreement with Swiss company SEL AG for the use of XblocPlus in the Marina Porto Albania Project.

The first project for XblocPlus has just been awarded. XblocPlus will be used as reinforcement of the 32 km long Afsluitdijk. For this first work with XblocPlus the blocks will be referred to as ‘Levvel blocs’, named after the Levvel consortium which comprises Van Oord, BAM, and Rebel.

A multi-purpose, Deep Sea Port at the heart of the Lagos Free Trade Zone will be contructed. Xblocs will be used along the breakwater of Lekki Port. 

A new Xbloc project is under construction in Turkey, Filyos Port. A total of 200.000m3 Xblocs will be produced to complete this new harbour. WIth Xbloc sizes from 4m3, 8m3 and 10m3. Production is well on its way.

In Istanbul, a new airport is being constructed, which will be the largest airport in the world. The airport is constructed by a consortium called IGA, which is formed by Cengiz, MAPA, Limak, Kolin and Kalyon.

Waitangi Wharf is a critical lifeline for the Chatham Islands, and is ready for a big upgrade.

The Calais Project is the third Xbloc project which will be carried out together with Bouygues, after successful projects in Reunion Island and in Dunkerque. With Xblocs of 4, 6, 10, 12 and 14 m3, the project comprises of the largest block sizes applied so far. These large blocks are needed to protect the new breakwater which will be built in a very exposed environment with extreme tidal currents and wave conditions. The largest blocks in the project have a height of 3.5 meters and weigh 33 tons each.

Adani Ports and Special Economic zone are using Xbloc armour units for the revetment of the Mundra LNG project. The physical model tests were executed by LHI in Sri Lanka. The production of the Xblocs will start in October 2015.

A consortium of Odebrecht, Tecnimont and Ingeniería Estrella constructed the Punta Catalina Power Plant in the Dominican Republic. Within this project, 2 breakwaters were build to protect the cooling water intake structure from hurricane waves.

In Costa Rica, a consortium of Van Oord and BAM International is constructing the Puerto Moín Container Terminal for APM Terminals.

Xblocs will be used on the new coastal road (La Nouvelle Route du Littoral NRL) on the French island La Réunion in the Indian Ocean. The license agreement has been signed with a joint venture of GTOI (part of Colas), SBTPC (part of Vinci) and Vinci Construction Terrassement.

The Xbloc is conquering the world ... and the Netherlands! For the first time since the introduction of the innovative breakwater element of BAM Infraconsult, it is truly applied in the country where it was conceived and developed.

Cape Clear is located on Clear Island at the South side of Ireland. 1 m3 Xblocs will be used in the extension of the harbour. The construction works will be carried out by L&M Keating Ltd.

DMC has signed a license agreement with J.L. Polynesie (Vinci) for the application of Xbloc armour units on Tahiti, French Polynesia. Xblocs will be applied as shore protection on the north side of the island. The design has been prepared by Egis Eau.
