Matarbari Port, Bangladesh

The Matarbari port’s breakwater system consists of two main structures: the north breakwater, which is approximately 1,750 meters long, and the south breakwater, measuring about 715 meters. These breakwaters are armored with Xbloc concrete units, in sizes of 1,5m3, 4m3, 5m³, 6m3 and 9 m3. In total, the project involves the placement of over 16,000 Xbloc units, amounting to more than 54,000 m³ of concrete. The Xblocs were produced in Myanmar and Batam and were shipped by barge to Matarbari. The construction took place between 2018 and 2020.
